Crowne Plaza Atlanta Airport Hotel EXPOSED / BAD 'HOOD: Shootings, Car Theft

This hotel is frequented by unsavory drug dealers:  "U.S. marshals shot and wounded a man early Wednesday while executing an arrest warrant at a hotel near Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.
According to East Point police, members of the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force went to a room at the Crowne Plaza hotel on Virginia Avenue shortly after midnight to arrest a man wanted for the sale of methamphetamine and possession of explosives." (John Spink and Mike Morris, Marshals shoot drug suspect at airport hotel, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, 8 Aug 2012)

What?  You don't want your sleep disturbed by some trigger-happy SWAT shooters?

Go elsewhere.

Imagine you have an early morning flight to catch, and you're awakened by the sound of dynamite cooking off.  Wouldn't that ruin your night?

Imagine walking down the hall, and noticing a door has been broken down to shoot the hotel guest staying in that room:  "The marshals broke through the door, and "upon entry, the suspect challenged them with a handgun, and

THEY JUST HAD TO DO IT

they were forced to shoot the suspect"". (John Spink and Mike Morris, Marshals shoot drug suspect at airport hotel, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, 8 Aug 2012)

Of course, SWAT is not the only disturbance at this beautiful facility.

Car thieves come and go unhindered by any sort of security:

"We paid to park at the hotel while traveling out of the country. The "helpful" valet told us to park in a certain spot so "he could keep an eye on our car while we were gone." Amazing, how he didn't keep an eye on it, as it was stolen. The hotel claims that the parking lot is not there problem as it is leased out to a parking company. So, if you will have a vehicle, I suggest not staying here as it is unsafe." BAD HOOD

"My parents stayed at this hotel at the front and back ends of an Alaska vacation, largely because of the "secure" park and fly service they offer. When they went to retrieve their car this morning, it had been stolen from the "secure" lot."  (“CAR STOLEN FROM PARKING LOT!”, Review of Crowne Plaza Atlanta Airport, TripAdvisor, 22 July 2013, http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowUserReviews-g60898-d223004-r168601232-Crowne_Plaza_Atlanta_Airport-Atlanta_Georgia.html)

YES, IT IS THAT BAD

I parked there.  And paid for the parking.  When I went out to the car, the window had been broken.

There are plenty of safer hotels in the area.

Since your stay at the Crowne Plaza is -- strictly -- at your own risk, let the buyer beware.
