Roskilde Festival Drugs Culture / Music as Front for Cynical Dealers

THE BAIT

"During the 9 days of Roskilde Festival you get to experience around 200 bands on 8 different stages." http://roskilde-festival.dk/en.html

THE REALITY

But this festival is about "More than music".  http://roskilde-festival.dk/en.html

Its about trash.

Everyone knows that:  "Waste that is not properly managed" [SEE PHOTO AT LEFT] is "a serious health hazard and lead to the spread of infectious diseases. Unattended waste lying around attracts flies, rats, and other creatures that in turn spread disease." http://edugreen.teri.res.in/explore/solwaste/health.htm

BUT THE FESTIVAL IS JUST MAKING A STATEMENT

Or, as festival management likes to put it:  "With its attitude towards environmental issues, humanitarian causes and cultural work, Roskilde Festival reflects and challenges the surrounding society and world."  http://roskilde-festival.dk/about_roskilde/values_of_roskilde_festival/

"The surrounding society"?

Just a few minutes away from the pig-sty that is Roskilde Festival, we find the lovely, very clean city of -- Roskilde.  Charming buildings, lively cultural offerings, and, of course, excellent hygiene. (see at right)

The Danish society says, Let's make it neat and clean.

COUNTERCULTURE OF FILTH AND DEPRAVITY

Roskilde Festival challenges this lifestyle with its culture of trash.

Or, as festival management likes to say:  "Non-profit society behind the festival
The Roskilde Festival Charity Society is the organiser of Roskilde Festival. The purpose of the society is to support initiatives benefitting children and young people and to support humanitarian and cultural work." http://roskilde-festival.dk/about_roskilde/

The cultural work is pictured at left.  But how does the festival work to benefit young people?

GET THEM HOOKED ON DRUGS

Drugs are openly trafficked on the festival grounds.  (see at right)

NATIONAL INSTITUTES OF HEALTH:  TOBACCO PRODUCTS ARE DRUGS

"A new study in mice shows how tobacco products could act as gateway drugs, opening the door to use of illicit drugs. Nicotine, the researchers found, makes the brain more susceptible to cocaine addiction. The finding suggests that lowering smoking rates in young people might help reduce cocaine abuse."  http://www.nih.gov/researchmatters/november2011/11212011nicotine.htm

PUSHER

Roskilde Festival's approach to "benefitting young people" is to offer approximately FORTY cigarette shops on the festival grounds.  Deliberately dealing legal drugs which open the door to cocaine addiction.

Like alcohol, which is even on the breakfast menu (see at left).

Recalling that "Alcohol ranks "most harmful" among a list of 20 drugs, beating out crack and heroin when assessed for its potential harm to the individual imbibing and harm to others, according to study results released by a British medical journal." (Study: Alcohol 'most harmful drug,' followed by crack and heroin, CNN, 1 Nov 2010, http://www.cnn.com/2010/HEALTH/11/01/alcohol.harm/)

But maybe the youthful festival goers are enjoying in moderation?

Hardly.

The young man pictured at right is grieving for his friends who are dead as a result of Roskilde Festival's dealing in harmful, highly addictive drugs.

Attend this festival at your own risk.
